An unincorporated village in the town of Chelmsford, North Chelmsford has its own town services, but is run by the same town government as Chelmsford, and shares a school district with them. Founded in 1655, it was originally a farming community, but still preserves and embraces its history to this day. Chelmsford was voted in the top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. by Money Magazine in 2007 and again in 2011. Freight shipments travel through the Stony Brook Railroad in Chelmsford, a major corridor of Pan Am Railway’s District 3 which connects New Hampshire & Maine with western Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York.
